An Insider's Guide to
San Francisco

Spend Your Holidays on the Ice

November 05, 2018

At this time of year, the Bay Area embraces the lovely pastime of ice skating and offers a variety of venues for all those eager to get in some holiday skate time. Listed here are four of our favorites. First, you can’t do better than the rinks at Union Square and Embarcadero Center. Both are large, absolutely gorgeous, and have the added advantage of being located near some of the best shopping and restaurants in the city. From the Embarcadero, you’ll have wonderful views of the area, including San Francisco Bay, while Union Square offers some terrific special events, including Flash Back Fridays, Drag Queens on Ice, and the famous Polar Bear Skate.

Also, join us in christening the brand-new rink at the Civic Center on November 30, which will include lighted trees all around the plaza as part of a Winter-Themed Park. Lastly, check out the Yerba Buena Ice Skating and Bowling Center. This is the city’s only year-round rink, and they offer a variety of classes, activities, and services.
