An Insider's Guide to
San Francisco

Take a Chocolate Tour for Valentine's Day

February 08, 2017

If you’re still mourning the loss of major chocolatiers in San Francisco, you’ll be glad to know there’s a bean-to-bar chocolate factory right here in the City’s Mission District.

Dandelion Chocolate opened for business in 2010, and makes only quality craft chocolate that captures the nuances and individual flavors of each bean. Small batches of beans are roasted, cracked, sorted, and tempered, before being molded and packaged by hand.

The Dandelion team welcomes all to a tour of their factory, where you can see, and taste, every step of the production process, from cocoa beans to liquid chocolate, to single origin bars. There is a $5 charge for the tour, but you’ll receive a hot chocolate gift card.

Tours are held Wednesdays-Saturdays from 6:10-6:50 p.m., and, due to production space restrictions, are limited to eight guests per tour. No children under eight are permitted, and, for safety reasons, all guests must wear shoes with closed toes. Tours are also available in Spanish on selected dates. For more information, call Dandelion Chocolate at (415) 349-0942, or email:
